About The Author:
Lorhainne Eckhart began her writing career five years ago. What inspired her to start writing was a lifelong love for stories. She read everything and naturally had the ability to create vivid characters, drawing on the experiences of friends, family and acquaintances around her.
When her children started school she sat down to write her first novel. The story unfolded and four years later The Wild Rose Press published her first novel, 'The Captain's Lady.' She continued to write during her search for publication and is currently at work on her third novel.
Lorhainne has a passion for the outdoors, her extensive gardens and preserving nature. Lorhainne Eckhart and her family enjoy living in the peaceful countryside on Vancouver Island.

Marcie Donaldson comes from a long line of Wicca’s, with a gift she chose to ignore for a guy, Dan McKenzie. He takes her into his world of lies, greed and BC bud. Easy money, harmless crime, with little risk or danger, that’s what she told herself for two years as she helped Dan run a large Marijuana grow operation on Vancouver Island. Somehow fate must have intervened. On a trip to New Orleans Marcie is attacked out of nowhere. Her backpack is snatched away and she hits her head on the concrete floor, losing her memory, within minutes of disembarking from her plane in the New Orleans Airport.
Sam Carre, DEA agent, is on his way home to New Orleans after a joint task force and two year investigation of one of the largest Marijuana grow operators, Lance Silver, located on LaSata Island off Vancouver Island. Except, Lance Silver was somehow tipped off. Sam is tired and disillusioned after the bust went bad and all eyes are looking at him. Back home now in post Katrina New Orleans, on sabbatical, all he wants is quiet and solitude. But as he trails the passengers from his flight out of Seattle, the pretty brunette in front of him is robbed of her backpack and tossed in his path, hitting her head on the way down. For a split second he considers turning the other way, but his chivalry and sense of professional responsibility kick in.
She remembers only her first name, Marcie, she has no ID, no money and no one showing up to claim her, she is alone. So Sam takes her in, telling himself it’s just until they can find out who she is. Then her dreams start. Are they memories? She doesn’t know. First the fire, then the dead woman and the man now known as Jerome.
The security videos at the airport show Marcie was a target and the theft was planned. The airport manifest shows her name as Jerome Standish and the questions arise from airport security and NOPD of what she was transporting. With Sam’s allegiances with the NOPD in question, he whisks Marcie away to his family’s cottage on Grande Terre. What they discover in the attic cannot be explained. They find letters from over a 150 years ago, from Jerome Standish, a privateer, framed and left to rot in Cabildo. With the letters is his dated photo, the same man that appeared to Marcie in her dream.
Only Sam’s surrogate mother a woman known by locals as a witch in Terrebonne Parish, knows the truth, that Marcie and Sam were brought together, not by their own doing, but by old Jerome and Sam’s dead wife. The questions of what Marcie was involved in parallel who he was investigating on the Islands. Was she set up, or was this still a game she was playing? For both of them and their choices of the road they walked, it was time to make it right. The wrong from the past was connected to now. When Marcie’s memory returns, it comes with a new awareness of the darkness that lurks and attaches to those who choose the path of destruction. With Sam’s reputation and loyalty in question, he is facing a dilemma, turn and walk away from the attraction that connects them together, or risk losing everything.
What neither can predict after they return to the islands and involve the DEA and RCMP, is what they would uncover with her friends, her past and the connection to Sam, Jerome and his dead wife. It was a crossing of time, of wrongs carried forward and something at play in a choice Marcie initiated, which may already be too late to resolve.
