‘Books In Sync’ and ‘The Book Attic’ Interviews Author Rainbow Starburst
Rainbow resides in Laredo, TX, U.S.A. and is originally from London, England
Tell us what makes you proud to be a writer from Laredo, TX? Finally, after many rejections I can say I am proud to be a Published Author.
What or who inspired you to become a writer? I have always been able to write in verse, having won my school’ s poetry prize 3 times in a row and when I found myself truly alone and living in a car, I turned to my scratching pad and my muse used my pen as her vessel to write my thoughts. It was somewhat cathartic seeing my thoughts and expressions on the page. I still write when, as I fondly call it, my muse strikes and if you come fly to me at http://fly.to/rainbow689 you can see some more examples of when my muse strikes.
When did you begin writing with the intention of becoming published? When I first came to the States in 2001, I used to send regular updates by email of My Adventures In The Colonials including the machinations of the Immigration Trolls and some who received them said they would like to see them in a book. Although I had tried on various occasions back in England to have my words published, without success
Did your environment or upbringing play a major role in your writing and why? Yes! I was the youngest of three. My brother was 17 and my sister 11 when I was born. The last words my mother said to me were, where did I get you from, I must have eaten off-lard when you were born and you are a changeling!? I looked it up and the Oxford English Dictionary, which defined it as, an elfin baby, swapped at birth, by stealth, by faeries!? Having been out step with most people for most of my life, this was a comfort to me after my mother’s shocking words. I felt I didn’t belong on this planet, even if it only meant I was alienated from the upright biped species that infect this planet and finally the US Government issued me with my Official Alien Number, so it’s official, because ya gotta believe the Government don’t you?
Do you come up with your title (s) before or after you write the manuscript (s)? Generally a little of both
Tell us why you write the genre(s) that you write? Simply because truth is often stranger than fiction and it's written from my heart and soul. In some ways, it's bearing my soul to the world
What format are your books in: Print Only.....E-Book Only.....or Both? Expressions and Observations is in print only, Battle-Scarred Heart is in print and is available as an e book as well
Current Book (s):
RAINBOWS EXPRESSIONS and OBSERVATIONS Or, Only Visiting This Planet In Search Of A Brain Or, I Know The Answer’s 42, But What’s The Piggin Question
Battle-Scarred Heart - A Brit's Witty Look At Lost Love
What special projects are you working on now and what books do we have to look forward to in the future? I’m working on my Adventures in the Colonies from 2001 to the present and my first year’s Adventures in Mother Trucking, which will reveal in all it’s glory my first year driving a Big Rig across the highways and byways of this great land
Is there anything else that you would like to share? Eat a live frog first thing every morning! Nothing worse will happen to you all day!
